SUMMARY OF BOARD/TUTOR EXPERTISE NEEDED @ SLC

POLITICAL ADVOCACY

  • Participate in the activities related to the legislature and governmental agencies in an advocacy position for Siena and Reading Works [www.readingworksdetroit.org]

PUBLICITY AND MARKETING

  • Develop a publicity/marketing plan for the Center.
  • Create annual or semi-annual events for donations

GRANT DEVELOPMENT

  • Seek and write grants for operational costs as well as instructional materials and supplies.

FUND DEVELOPMENT

  • Create and develop a "Donor Program"
  • Coordinate data on donor base for follow-up in the future.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

  • Increase the number of collaborations and partnerships with the tri-county area.
  • Increase the number of millennial volunteers @ SLC

COMMUNICATIONS

  • Publish newsletter: write, edit, organize, and gather materials for submission.
  • Review the content of our website, keeping it current, submitting updates to the SLC Webmaster.

YOUTH PROJECTS

  • Develop/create volunteer service opportunities for youth grade 8 to 12.
  • Recruit youth and young adults from varied backgrounds and cultures to participate in special projects at the Center such as "Cleanup-Fix-up Day". They can help the Center while interacting with others from different communities cultures, and religions.

SOCIAL MEDIA AND ACTIVITIES

  • Create an annual “giving” event.
  • Use social media to promote the Center and its social activities, (e.g. Meet-ups).

STRATEGIC PLANNING

  • Using a third party create a plan to involve key stakeholders in the creation of such a document.
